Valerie of Africa is a dynamic and influential figure in African fashion, tourism, and media. As a renowned travel tourism journalist, she has made a significant impact across various African countries. Valerie of Africa (born Valerie Chinoyerum Opia) is a prominent Nigerian travel journalist, tourism ambassador, and girl-child advocate. She is best known as the convener of the 165 Days Across Africa documentary and for her advocacy work empowering women and young girls across the continent. She is the convener of this travel, tourism, and reality TV documentary project designed to explore and document the diverse cultural heritage and natural landscapes of the continent. Valerie is a vocal advocate for the African girl-child. She serves as the Gender Director for the Women, Youth and Children Upliftment Foundation (WYCUT), the organizer of the Miss Girl Child Nigeria pageant, and the Project Director of the Kiddies Carnival Nigeria. She works as a broadcast journalist for Africa Aglow TV and serves as the Vice Chairman of the Notable Creativity Network. On October 11, 2025, in commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child, Valerie successfully climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Her ascent aimed to inspire and empower young girls by proving that they can achieve ambitious dreams. This historic climb earned her the "Most Inspirational Woman in Nigeria, Africa" award at the 2025 I Believe in Nigeria Carnival.
